The A350 XWB which is the latest version of wide-body commercial plane developed by France based company Airbus, performed its demo flight in Hanoi as part of its eleven day tour around Asia.
Among distinguished passengers were Transport Minister, Dinh La Thang and Airbus Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders.
Vietnam Airlines – the national flag carrier has placed an order for 10 units of A350 XWB aircraft to Airbus. It will also hire 4 more of these from the 3rd party.
The first delivery to Vietnam Airlines is slated in mid-2015. The plane is due to shuttle between Hanoi and Paris.
After successful flying across Seoul , Tokyo and Hanoi, the A350 XWB is to head into the skies of Bangkok, Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before returning to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse.
So far, 750 orders have been received by Airbus out of which 244 were from Asia. The 369-seat variant of the aircraft is made of 53 % of composite materials that will ensure fuel efficiency and let plane to fly 14,816 km non-stop.
