NASA Captures Last Journey of USS Constellation CV-64

This is the funeral march of an aircraft carrier. This photo was taken during NASA mission called Operation IceBridge on November 5, 2014. The goal behind was to survey polar ice. But, NASA also took note of an aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CV-64), a Kitty Hawk-class super-carrier which was being towed by comparatively tiny tugboats.

The Constellation reaches its retirement and is destined for demolition after 41 years of commissioned service and 11 years of retirement. This huge US Navy vessel will be scrapped at Brownsville, Texas.
