The US Air Force’s aerobatic team and the Red Arrows have canceled their 4 July, Independence Day event at a UK military base owing to security concerns in the country.
They were scheduled to make a public performance at RAF Feltwell in Norforlk on Saturday, but the US Air Force decided to cancel the event last minute quoting “local threat assessments”. The airshow was supposed to be hosted by USAF members based at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.
A statement on the RAF Lakenheath website apologised for any inconvenience caused and said: “The decision was made due to the most current local threat assessments. The base continually surveys the security environment alongside host nation counterparts and must take appropriate measures based on those assessments.”
